Hugel named best company for work-life compatibility

Hugel Inc., a leading global medical aesthetics company, has been nominated by South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor as a company with best work-life compatibility.

The nomination for a state-run business aims to encourage work-life balance and expand the positive impact on daily lives. The business is co-led by the employment ministry, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Korea Enterprises Federation, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and KBIZ.

Through rigorous screening processes including document review and due diligence, Hugel was highly recognized for its effort in the compatibility of work and childcare and improvement of its work culture.

As a nominee, Hugel will receive a package of benefits for three years such as exemption from the government’s labor inspection, preferential interest rates, preferential tech and credit guarantees, suspension of customs inspection and preferential treatment in application for state-run projects.

Hugel provides a variety of programs for work-life balance. The employees can set work hours that suit their lifestyle, and by using a smart work system, they can choose workplace for better productivity.

The company offers a ‘family day’ on the third Friday of each month and a ‘refresh vacation’, a three-day paid vacation in addition to annual paid leave, to enhance the compatibility of career and family life. Its short leave allows employees to take two hours off and focus on work for the rest of the day.

Hugel provides birth and childcare subsidies and tuition for employees’ children, while operating a daycare center, woman office break rooms and lactation rooms at work. It also allows a reduction in working hours during pregnancy and provides equal paid parental leave for both women and men.
